Global Arts Practice Formed in Response to the Crisis in the Arts. The beautiful Akzent Theater in Vienna, Austria was the setting of a concert of American youth, co-sponsored by Quadral as they announced the formation of a new service group dedicated to the arts community. Quadral, a leader in the development of global strategy, planning and implementation, announced the formation of the Global Arts Practice, (GAP) a group of very talented professionals inside and outside the arts community to provide innovative global solutions to orchestras, opera companies, theaters, museums and other arts organizations making the transition from government, or foundation support to alternative funding and to help out with solid business solutions with an artistic understanding for organizations in structural and financial distress. With offices near Cleveland, Ohio, and Frankfurt, Germany, Quadral is expanding to Vienna and Berlin and supports GAP Member offices in New York and Zurich. This combination positions Quadral to perform in the arts community, whatever part of the world needs our services. Our GAP Members combine their unique business skills with business, or personal experience in the arts. The services include global strategy development, new revenue and venue opportunities, solid business analysis, crisis and turnaround management, events, marketing and PR, as well as operational expertise. Quadral coaches and trains existing staff of clients to help the organization succeed. Quadral literally, fills in the gap for arts organizations. The business services come from experience since 1984 with North American and European companies, and development of global strategies in the automotive industry, through the service and financial sectors, as globalization cascaded as the leading business model. Quadrals clients include companies on the NYSE, NASDAQ and Franfkurt Exchanges, as well as privately held, mid-sized companies. The arts side developed with the creation of the Little Alsace International Music Festival to be held for the first time in the summer of 2004. Quadral applied its global strategies to the development of the festival, and linked up with the Colmar Festival in the Alsace region of France. Thereafter, they developed a program to leverage resources, share talents and artists, not to mention a search for global sponsorships. This model has opened opportunities for both festivals that could never have been accomplished on their own. Learning about the crisis in the Arts community in Europe and knowing the serious problems in the US, Frederick Metz Shepperd saw the opportunity to create new revenue streams and new opportunities in the arts, rather than traditional solutions of cost reduction. He is not new to the performing and visual arts. A lawyer by education, Mr. Shepperd studied percussion with members of the Cleveland Orchestra during his high school years at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has toured twice on concert tours through Europe (Once at the University level) and received a number of local and regional music awards in school. He has been a member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art,as well as the Cleveland and Columbus art museums. In his professional life, he has served on the finance committee of the Akron Symphony, where he developed a major annual fundraising event and served as the non-profit organization coordinator in the Akron, Ohio office of what is now known as Delloitte Touche and sponsored many concerts and orchestras in Northeast Ohio. He is also responsible for the formation of the Quartet of the Little Alsace. A string quartet that debuted with concerts last fall and winter. The mixture of business with artistic understanding averts a cut into the bone for many struggling institutions. It is a good combination, Dr. Shepperd closed his remarks by stating, Quadral brings the art of business, to the business of art. The concert was also sponsored by Zonta International, Nadjas, a world-class jewelry design house near Vienna, and the Flora Association against breast cancer. The guests included children from near the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, who are growing up and going to school in Vienna.
